OREGON FIRST FALL CAMP SCRIMMAGE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE – “I think we attacked it, attacked it well, I think the level of competition in a lot of areas picked up” – Mario Cristobal
The Oregon Ducks held their first full scrimmage of fall camp on Saturday.
And from all accounts, this edition of the Ducks football team is ahead of schedule and performing well.
“I would say better than a typical first scrimmage because these guys have been around each other a little while” explained Cristobal after the Saturday evening workout.
“But from a cultural standpoint and understanding what we need to do to get better standpoint, we’re really making the right kind of progress.”
After Saturday’s scrimmage inside of Autzen Stadium which ended the Ducks first full week of fall camp, Cristobal seemed pleased with his teams effort and intensity.
“The whole goal of these first eight days was to really increase our physicality, increase our toughness,…our mental toughness and intensity,…intensity to detail….get in better shape…and always make sure we do our best to come out healthy on the other side” said Cristobal.
“I think we attacked it,…attacked it well. I think the level of competition in a lot of areas really picked it up. It shows,…it shows in the intensity behind those battles so guys are making plays from both sides of the ball. A little bit of sloppy execution in the red zone on both sides. We gave up some opportunities and also lose some opportunities on the other side.”
