OREGON FILLS THE DIRECTOR OF RECRUITING POSITION – Mario Cristobal Hires Kenny Sanders Away from Penn State
The University of Oregon football program have found their new Director of Recruiting.
On Monday, former Penn State assistant director of player personnel Kenny Sanders announced through a tweet he would be joining the Ducks as the Director of Recruiting under head coach Mario Cristobal.
In a note on Twitter, Sanders wrote:
“I was given an opportunity to be a part of a community, university and football program that embodies all the principles that promote the growth and success of young men academically, socially and athletically. The support I have experienced from this fan base has been amazing. Special thanks to Coach Franklin for allowing a kid from Philly to leave an imprint on the school he grew up rooting for. To my guys in the black shoes & basic blues, you are my family and I’ll always be there. You guys know that. I am so thankful for the last 5 years in Happy Valley and excited for the next chapter where I will be the Director of Recruiting at the University of Oregon. Thank you Coach Cristobal for this opportunity. Time to gather the Flock.. Go Ducks !! “
Sanders has been with the Nittany Lions since 2014 under head coach James Franklin. Over the last three seasons, the Nittany Lions were able to sign a top 15 recruiting class with the No. 13 class announced during this cycle
Last season Penn State signed a No. 6 ranked class and in 2017 the Nittany Lions signed the No. 15th ranked class.
The Ducks have had a vacancy at the director of recruiting position since early January when former Director of Recruiting Stephen Field left Eugene for the same role at Louisville. Field then departed Louisville a few weeks later to take an on-field position with Miami.
This is the second staff hire by the Ducks this off-season.
Oregon hired linebackers coach Ken Wilson from Washington State to replace former linebackers coach Cort Dennison.
