THE BIG QUESTION – Is Justin Herbert Ready to Play Against Arizona – “Justin’s doing well, his bone is healing really good” Willie Taggart
It’s the big question of the week.
At least it certainly was during Willie Taggart’s media briefing Monday afternoon at the Hatfield Dowlin Complex.
Is Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert healed and healthy enough to play Saturday against Arizona?
Taggart said Monday he’ll rely on the medical opinion of the doctors this week to determine just how stable and healed Herbert’s collar bone is before making any kind of decision.
“Just ask him how he feels….how’s that shoulder feeling” explained Taggart when asked about his daily conversations with his star QB.
“If we leave it up to Justin, he would have played about 3 weeks ago. And that’s just the kind of young man that he is. He’s such a competitor just like Troy Dye,…he just loves to compete and help his teammates out. If we would have left it up to him he would have played, like I said 3 weeks ago no matter if the bone was healed or not.”
Taggart remains evasive about Herbert so as not to tip his hand to early to Rich Rodriguez and his Wildcats.
“Again, we’ll get another x-ray this week and see where the bone is” said Taggart.
“Hopefully it’s completely healed and he can play. Timeline,…ummm,…say 3:59 pm on Saturday.”
