FALL CAMP; Helfrich Stresses Sharper Execution In Final Two Weeks of Fall Camp
On Saturday afternoon, the Oregon Ducks wrapped up their second full week of fall camp wearing full pads and practicing in the outdoor facility adjacent to the Hatfield – Dowlin Complex.
With just two weeks remaining in camp before the Ducks take the field against South Dakota on Saturday August 20th, Helfrich remains enthusiastic about his squads effort however he stressed the execution level needs to improve before taking the field for real.
“Better execution,….sharper execution” explained Helfrich when asked his goals for these final two weeks of fall camp.
“That comes with pointing toward a game. We have every bit of offense and every bit of defense,…almost for the entire season in right now. When you have that much stuff and new guys learning it,…maybe they’ve run it once against one look or one coverage and then it changes….there’s going to be less than ideal level of execution so we need to clean all of that stuff up.”
After Sunday’s day off for treatment, Oregon returns to the practice field Monday and Wednesday for their two remaining daily double sessions and fall camps final scrimmage on Thursday.
In his post practice media session Saturday, Helfrich explained he and his staff have installed more than a seasons worth of schemes and coverage’s which he described as a tool box full of tools. With all of that installation in place, Helfrich said actual game planning will begin late next week after the final scrimmage of camp.
“Once we get into game mode, which won’t be until late next week, we’ll really start refining things.”
