With three years under his belt and arguably the most talked about college football player of this 2014 season to date, it’s hard to believe Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota still gets pre-game jitters.
Mariota admitted as much in his post practice press briefing on Thursday after his No. 3 ranked Ducks worked out in Autzen Stadium in preparation for their opener Saturday against South Dakota. ( 7:30 pm )
“Yeah, I get them before every game” said Mariota.
“It’s kind of natural for me. My dad’s always told me that’s ok,…that’s how it should be. It means you care about the game and you care about your teammates. I’m sure I’ll get them,..for me they’re usually gone by the first play and then it just becomes football again.”
In his final press briefing before facing off against South Dakota, Mariota discussed his progress of taking better care of the football and the tenacity of the Ducks defense which he faces each day in practice.
