Oregon held its final up-tempo practice on Friday morning before the team departs the chilly pacific northwest for the warmer climate of San Antonio, Texas for the Valero Alamo Bowl.
The Ducks will hold one final workout Saturday morning before dispersing to spend a few days with family and friends for the Christmas holiday.
“We’ve been in full game plan mode since returning back to practice this week” explained Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich when asked about the Ducks Alamo Bowl preparations so far.
“The two weekends prior were just,…you try to get ahead in terms of conditioning, special teams, blocking, tackling fundamentally,… and then giving the guys time to finish up academically.”
Helfrich also spent a few moments discussing the balancing act of allowing his team to enjoy the bowl experience while also staying focused on the task at hand.
“There’s time for focus, and there’s time for fun” said Helfrich.
“And balancing exactly that,…of when it’s time to meet it’s time to meet,… when it’s time to have a great time with the incredible Texas hospitality, we’ll enjoy that and when it’s time to go lift,…it’s time to go lift….and just clicking that switch back and forth, I think our leadership guys will do a good job of managing our other guys.”
