The No. 10 Oregon Ducks ( 10-2 ) went back to work on Saturday to resume preparations for the Texas Longhorns ( 8-4 ) in the Valero Alamo Bowl on December 30th in San Antonio.
Helfrich and members of his coaching staff had been on the road recruiting in the last two weeks before returning back to Eugene to begin game preparations for the Longhorns.
Helfrich discussed facing a long and athletic Texas defense as well as his teams focus and motivation.
“I sure hope not” explained Helfrich when asked if there might be a lack of motivation among his team for not making a 5th consecutive BCS bowl.
“There’s so many things to play for. You get to play another game. This will be the last game of a bunch of guys careers. It’s the last game of this teams existence and ending with a win makes for a better off-season. You always want to show up and play and again when you get a chance to compete against Texas…..Texas is still Texas…and they are incredibly talented.”
