On this Christmas Eve, it seems only appropriate to talk about gifts!
No, not the kind of gifts Santa secretly places under your Christmas trees tonight,…or in stockings hanging from your mantle.
No, these are the gifts bowl games so graciously give to college football players and coaches participating in bowl games during each bowl season.
Gift suites aren’t new to bowl games.
When a team arrives to play in its specific bowl contest, each team schedules a visit to the bowls ‘Gift Suite’ where players can choose a variety of gifts up to a $550 value which is allowable per NCAA rules.
The NCAA allows Bowls to offer gifts to a total of 125 players per team. For teams traveling more than 125 players, including staff, VIP’s, etc,…teams can, and usually do purchase additional gift packages for those participants.
In the spirit of Christmas, and in the spirit of giving on behalf of the Valero Alamo Bowl, we thought we’d pass along this years gifts to players from both Oregon and Texas participating in this years game.
