The remaining two sides of the football [ Oregon offense and Texas defense ] held their final official press briefing of the 2013 Valero Alamo Bowl on Saturday afternoon.
Led by Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost, center Hroniss Grasu, WR Keanon Lowe, WR Josh Huff, RB Byron Marshall and quarterback Marcus Mariota, all stepped to the podium late Saturday afternoon for their final media availability before Monday’s match-up with Texas.
Frost began the briefing and talked about the teams preparation and knocking off some of the holiday rust.
“Kind of laid the groundwork for what we wanted to do during this game when we were back home” explained Frost.
“So, this week is really just kind of gearing back up after our Christmas break,… kind of ironing out all the wrinkles, trying to get ready for the ballgame.”
Junior wide receiver Keanon Lowe agreed.
“We had a great bowl preparation in Eugene” said Lowe.
“We’ve had great practices in San Antonio. I think guys are just excited, ready to go. You have a month off. A month off of hitting people, you’re ready to get back out there and try to compete.”
The team the No. 10 Ducks will be hitting is the ( 8-4 ) Texas Longhorns from the Big 12. The Longhorns were one win away from a conference championship and bid into a BCS bowl.
This Oregon offense is fully aware of what they’ll be facing Monday in the Alamo Dome.
“Texas is a pretty aggressive defense” said Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota when asked about the Longhorns.
“They’re going to come out,…obviously they have a lot to play for. We just got to be on our P’s and Q’s, understand our assignments. If everybody is on the same page, if we’re all reading the same music, we should be ok.”
