Bralon Addison, a Texas native, was all smiles after Monday’s 30-7 win over the Texas Longhorns in the Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio.
Addison, who caught 5 balls for 48 yards, was instrumental in several of the Ducks scoring drives catching balls on key third downs to help move the Ducks inside of the red zone.
It was the red zone though where Oregon struggled. The Ducks failed at least three times to punch the ball into the end zone which is something Addison addressed after the game in his post game comments.
“I think everybody needs to get stronger starting up front and all the way out to the receivers” said Addison when asked about the Ducks red zone difficulties.
“Coach Helfrich talked about when you’re undefeated and it comes to the end of the season you’re kind of just trying to protect your record and I think we did get caught up in that just trying to make it out of games that allowed us to lose a couple of games and being in some games we shouldn’t have been in. We just need to work on our bodies…and second our minds throughout the whole 14 weeks,…coming out fast, hard physical.”
Certainly this Oregon team was a much different team in the second half of the season as opposed to the first 8 games in which they were unbeatable.
And Addison agrees.
“I think for the first seven weeks a lot of people thought we couldn’t be beat” explained Addison.
“I think what happened was we didn’t keep it all through the whole season,…we just starting trying to protect our record instead of going out and playing and attacking.”
