Often described as the ‘big uglies’, offensive lineman rarely receive the notoriety they sometimes deserve.
And if you heap praise onto Oregon’s offensive line and the success they’re currently enjoying, left tackle Tyler Johnstone brushes it off much like quarterback Marcus Mariota brushes off on-coming tacklers.
Through six games, Oregon’s offense is ranked 2nd nationally in scoring offense ( 56 ypg ) and in total offense ( 630 ypg ) and third in rushing at 324 yards per game.
Johnstone say’s the biggest change he’s noticed this year is the ‘O’ line is simply unified in their pursuit to finish plays.
“I think the biggest difference is we’re relentless” explained Johnstone this week.
“It’s been our drive to finish,…in past years you may have seen us letting off plays early to save ourselves for the next rep to get up to the line,…I think we’re a lot more in shape this year and more aggressive.”
