Oregon head football coach Mark Helfrich admitted his No. 2 Ducks began Saturday’s game with Washington State a bit out of sync.
Although the Ducks maintained their lead over the Cougars from beginning to end, Helfrich seemed to brush off the Ducks 3 turnovers in the first half.
Helfrich said he was proud of the way his team responded after WSU forced the Ducks into three first half fumbles which led to 17 points and pulled the Cougars within 10 points at halftime.
“The three turnovers we had were in the unforced error category,…and so we need to clean that up” said Helfrich after the game.
“Anytime you get that sudden change mentality, it’s a great tester of character,..of just the makeup of our guys. As I’ve said before, I love this team,… those guys are grinders and they believe in what we’re doing,..and 62-38 we’ll take.”
Helfrich also joked about the record setting night WSU quarterback Connor Halliday had in pass attempts ( 89 ) and passing yards ( 557 ).
