It’s probably the most overused phrase in all of sports – ‘taking it just one day at a time.’
For Oregon football coaches and players though, it’s literally a phrase they live by.
We often scoff at it, however it’s a living – breathing culture taught within the confines of the ‘Oregon way.’ And you certainly can’t argue with the results.
Chip Kelly was 46-7 in his tenure at Oregon and current coach Mark Helfrich is 3-0 – and both preach, ( if not demand ) their team ‘win the day.’
After practice this week, junior wide receiver Josh Huff reiterated several times at how he and his teammates simply take their practice sessions during game week ‘one day at a time.’
“How we work around here is we just take it one day at a time” said Huff when asked about the Ducks preparation for the Cal Bears.
“We’re just going to continue to get better each day.”
It’s certainly working for Huff who’s playing his final season in a Duck uniform.
Huff currently leads all Duck receivers with 14 catches for 298 yards and 1 touchdown.
