No sweat,…no problem for the Oregon Ducks.
Each Thursday, during game week, the Ducks walk-through all of their offensive and defensive scenarios to retrace what they’ve practiced during the week.
There’s one rule though,…don’t sweat. Oregon head coach Mark Helfrich calls it a ‘no sweat’ day.
And he’s serious too.
In fact, Helfrich’s message to his team during Thursday’s workout was,… ‘the only sweating I wanted to see was their brain sweating,…’
Now that the on-field game week preparations are finally complete, quarterback Marcus Mariota and the rest of his teammates have one common message.
They’re ready to play football,….for real.
The redshirt sophomore was relaxed and all smiles after Thursday’s workout, but was also all business when he spoke of Saturday’s contest against Nicholl’s State. ( Autzen Stadium – 1:00 pm )
“I think I was a lot more nervous last year,…I was a lot more anxious” Mariota told reporters when asked how his ‘first game’ preparations last year compared to those this year.
“After that year,…I feel a lot more comfortable. I’m just really ready to go after it again. These guys have been talking they’re tired of hitting each other,…I’m really tired of trying to throw on Ifo [ CB Ifo Ekpre-Olomu ] and T-Mitch [ CB Terrance Mitchell ],…I’m looking forward to playing on Saturday,..it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
