Oregon redshirt freshman quarterback Marcus Mariota will play in his very first Civil War game on Saturday when No. 5 Oregon takes on No. 15 Oregon State.
When asked about playing the in-state rival Beavers, Mariota told reporters he couldn’t wait for Saturday’s game.
“It’s going to be a good game going up to Corvallis” said Mariota. “It’s going to be another fun atmosphere.”
Mariota also discussed how he and his team have handled the difficult loss to Stanford last Saturday. “Sunday was a long day for me,” Mariota told reporters after Tuesday’s practice.
Mariota’s long day was caused by Stanford’s stifling defense and their ability to contain Mariota within the Ducks offensive scheme. “There was a lot of times I was trying to force it a little too much,” Mariota said.
Mariota also addressed the Thanksgiving holiday and having the opportunity to spend the week with his family who are in Eugene visiting from Hawaii.
